Gloucester, MA – SeaShare, a nonprofit that brings seafood to people who depend on food assistance throughout the U.S., has teamed up with the seafood industry to bring two million servings of seafood to food banks in areas affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. To support the cause, Gorton’s Seafood donated 214,000 pounds – 856,000 servings – of pollock tenders.

“As the only nonprofit dedicated to bringing nutritious seafood to food banks, SeaShare provides an essential service,” said Gavin Kennedy, Director of Consumer Marketing. “With the increased need for wholesome meals in the wake of the recent hurricanes, we are happy to be able to support SeaShare’s critical efforts.”

Gorton’s strives to bring fresh, high quality, delicious seafood to consumers. Nearly all Gorton’s products are made with wild-caught fish, caught by fisheries certified by the Marine Stewardship Council. Seafood contains high-quality protein, vitamins and minerals, and is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids.
