The company Sibirsky Bereg plans to build a plant manufacturing dried fish and squid under the brand BEERka in China. The enterprise's capacities will exceed 400 tons per month. Investments into the project are estimated at US$ 5.6mn (EUR 4.14mn). Construction will start in 2007. Over 90% of the plant's products will be supplied to Russia.
According to Sibirsky Bereg's experts, the fish snack segment is the most promising in the market as it demonstrates permanent growth during the last six years, while the segment of crisp-bread snacks (sukhariki) decreased from US$ 356mn (EUR 262.94mn) to US$ 308mn (EUR 227.49mn) in 2006. Market insiders say that the seafood market will increase by some 20% per year in the near future.
