The promotion event for the processing base project on fishery products within Fujian Western Strait is held in Zhangzhou, by the Ocean and Fishery Bureau of Fujian and the government of Lianjiang County. There are over 40 fishery processing enterprises either coming from TaiWan or ZhangZhou regions for the attendance.

The processing base for Fujian Western Strait fishery products located in Xiao’ao Town of Lianjiang County is supposed to have the land use at 783 ha, among which 140 ha. filled lands will be achieved until 2008, used for the deep processing on fish, shrimp, shellfish and seaweeds. Also the deep processing projects on the marine health products and medical products will be carried out during the year 2008 to 2010 in the planning schedule, which aims for the production value of this fishery processing base at 5 billions RMB with the turnover at 300 billions US dollars by the end of the 11th-Five-Year Planning. Up to now, there have been four companies contracting with the base by the investment about 100 million RMB, such as Huafu halobios Ltd. The whole production is supposed to start within this year.
