More and more fishery trading on jelly fish is arising to be heated in the Beihai markets and ports. One jelly fish nearly over 5 kg has got the market price about 2.0-2.5 Yuan averagely. In Northern Bay, the jelly fish has its high production usually during March-August each year, with the huge size at diameter 1m weighting 100kg. Benefiting from its broad coverage and high density, the daily fishing has got the output of 25-35 jelly fish by100m floating gill net.

In recent years, some fishers have begun to focus on the jelly fishing especially during its high production period. Also it has been found the cost can be less than 20% to the daily output value which is around 1000-2500 Yuan per vessel, if floating grill net is on operation. Thus, the production efficiency has been greatly improved for a higher profit comparing to the fishing on drawling.

It has been said that the market price of jelly fish is very low since it is quite unpopular within the local people of Beihai. Thus, Beihai fishers prefer to sell out their jelly fish externally to the purchasers from other regions, who subsequently distribute those jelly fish products to the differed northern cities after the roughing processing.
