Qingdao to build 'Silicon Valley' of blue economy

Qingdao City, as the core of the Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone in Shandong Province, is accelerating the construction of a batch of key marine technological projects to form a Silicon Valley of blue economy in the region.

The Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone is the first regional economic zone featuring marine economy in the country, the planning of which gained approval from the central government in Jan. 2011. With an area of 159,500 square kilometers, the zone covers all of Shandong Province's offshore waters, and includes six cities and two coastal counties in the province.
