A key laboratory of research on marine hazards forecasting was established by the National Marine Environment Forecasting Center on Friday to further study the regular pattern of the ocean and how to timely forecast these events.

The laboratory will improve China's warning and emergency system for potential marine hazards, speed up the scientific and technological level in ocean studies and enhance the country's marine disaster relief and forecasting ability, Jiang Xingwei, director of the center, said.
