It is estimated that the total output of aquatic products in China will reach 51.9 million tons in 2010, grew by 3% as compared with 50.4 million tons last year; the continuous growth of the production output mainly owing to the increase of the disposable income which stimulates the domestic demand continuously, and the export-oriented fish processing industry.

Global recession has caused the total volume of business in aquatic products declined for the first time within 5 years, lowered from $13.3 billion the year before to $12.9 billion.

For two consecutive times Japan has been the largest importer of aquatic products from China; for America, China is already the second largest supplier of fishery products and processed aquatic food (especial for fillet).Bilateral trade volume for aquatic products in 2010 is expected to grow gradually together with the recovery of global economy.
