THE China-US Peace Food Inspection Centre(CUPFIC) came into operation at the Peace Synthesis Market of Logistics in Zhuhai,located on the Guangzhou Highway western Jiechong Section,on Wednesday。
Jointly set up by the Oregon Department of Agriculture,China Certification & Inspection (Group)Co Ltd Zhuhai Branch,the Peace Synthesis Market of Logistics in Zhuhai and South China Agriculture University,the facility enforces food safety standards accepted by both Chinese authorities and the US Food & Drug Administration(FDA),the first of its kind in China.
The results of the food tests will be sent to the General Administration of Quality Supervision,Inspection & Quarantine of China.Foods that have been tested and qualified will be exported directly to the US exempt from retesting by the FDA,which is expected to reduce the trading risk and improve work efficiency,a government official explained.
Thirteen US states have set up booths in the market to showcase and sell farm produce.
The Zhuhai Peace Synthesis Market of Logistics,having a total investment of 608 million yuan(￥87 million) and covering 120,000sqm,came into use on the day.It is to become a major fruit and vegetable supply and distribution centre in west Guangdong， an export and import， processing and distribution base of fruit and vegetables to the US and a farm-produce trading base for Guangdong,Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan with exports topping ￥500 million and domestic sales revenue exceeding 10 billion yuan (￥1.43 billion) each year， the official noted。
