6-7th.November.2008,Global Technical and Trade Conference on Shrimp was held in Guangzhou,the capital of Guangdong province which is the top producer of China farmed shrimp. 

The conference was organized by FAO and Chinese Ministry of Agriculture with the support of the FISHINFONetwork.It is one of the biggest events that the industry has seen in recent times and attracted about 300 participants from all over the world,including representatives of major industry players. 

The main topic of conference focused on global and regional situation of shrimp culture,capture,trade,quality issues and sustainable growth.Thirty-four speakers addressed the two-day conference. A field visit to wholesale market and shrimp farm base was arranged after the conference ended.
