Seminar on China-Caribbean Agriculture and fishery cooperation held in Xiamen

To further promote China-Caribbean agriculture and fishery cooperation and intensify two-way exchanges,Seminar on China-Caribbean Agriculture and fishery cooperation was held in Xiamen from 7 to 8 September 2007.Representatives from 14 Caribbean countries such as Antigua & Barbuda,Bahamas, Barbados,Cuba,Dominica, Grenada,Guyana,Suriname,Trinidad and Tobago etc took part in the seminar which was one of the main activities of The 2nd China-Caribbean Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum.

China is currently working very actively to enlarge agriculture and fishery cooperation with Caribbean countries which have abundant agriculture and fishery resources. Since 2003, many Chinese companies pioneered by Xintian International Economic and Technological Cooperation Corporation and China National Fishery Corporation have sent study groups to build contacts and discuss projects with their Caribbean counterparts. Caribbean countries are particularly interested in China’s scientific and technological advancement in agriculture and related sectors.
