By: Xinhua
Sep 02,2008

Fishing boats march into the Taihu Lake, in East China's Jiangsu Province, as an annual fishing festival kicks off on August 30, 2008. The festival, known by locals as "kaibu" or "begin to fish," lifted a seven-month fishing ban in the third largest freshwater lake in China. A cultural week showcasing the local fishing customs will be held alongside the festival. [Xinhua]
