Sep 11,2007

Sunday morning, 21 sea-going fishing boats sailed for Indonesia from Fuzhou Mawei port. This marked the initiation of the 2nd r ound of Sino-Indonesian fishing collaboration. Representatives from both countries said that an offshore fish farm in Indonesia would be set up to create a win-win situation from fish catching to processing.
The 21 vessels belonged to Fujian Deep -Sea Fishing Group, and each one of them was manned with 22 seamen. Fujian has been fishing in the Indonesian sea for over 2 decades, and Fujian vessels fishing in this area takes up half of China's total fishing boat number. In October 2006 Fujian Deep -Sea Fishing Group and AG Group from Indonesia co-founded a joint venture company and an offshore fish farm. This is so far the biggest fishing project in Fujian, and it's also a highlight in this round of collaboration. Both sides hoped that a win-win situation could be created in this project.
"The company's tax contributes greatly to the local revenue in Indonesia, and the rich fish resource there can meet our domestic demand. It's indeed a win-win situation." said Huang Shifeng,Deputy Director of the Ocean and Fishery Bureau of Fujian.
"This is a complementary partnership. If we collaborate in fish processing, or export semi-finished products to other countries, we can indeed make more money." said Ali Supaden, Director of Indonesia Ocean and Fishery Department,in the sailing ceremony.
