The total output of aquatic products in Dongying, Shandong Province, reached 481,640 tons in 2011, up 6.3 percent over the same period last year.

The city has actualized a fishing output value of 10.06 billion yuan (US$ 1.6 billion), up 17.2 percent over the same period last year.

Dongying gives priority to major industries such as Huanghe River estuary hairy crab, sea cucumber. Among them, the production of hairy crab reached 13,134 tons in 2011 and realized a production value of 1.7 billion yuan (US$ 269.6 million) and commodity sea cucumber 2850 tons and realized 600 million yuan (US$ 95.2 million).

Marine fishing industries have become the pillar industries in the city, the provincial model zone of modern fishing industries.
