The gross output value of fishery in Yunnan province will reach $8.5 billion in 2015

After 5 years, the gross output of aquatic products in Yunnan will reach 0.75 million tons, bringing the output value of fishery of $8.5 billion.

Yesterday, Zhang Yuming, director of Yunnan Provincial Agricultural Bureau announced in the inaugural meeting of Yunan Amuer Sturgeon Group that, by 2015, the annual output growth rate in Yuan’s aquatic products will average more than 11% and the annual fishery output value growth will reach 17.6%.

In 2010, the gross output of aquatic products in Yunnan province reached 0.482 million tons, valued at $4.5 billion, compared with the same period of last year, which grew by 12% and 7%, respectively.

Until now, it was reported that 559 kinds of different species of fish have been found in Yunnan province, including 527 species of native Aboriginal Fishes, ranked at the first place in China.

There are more than 600 rivers or streams all round the whole province, including 33 lakes. Agricultural water areas reach at 6 million mu more or less, the gross output of trout and sturgeon can reach 0.6 million tons. Ministry of Agriculture has named Yunnan Province as the focus developing province for the cultivating of sturgeon.
