Two researchers at a marine life institute on Kinmen Island present the carcass of a Xiamen-tagged Chinese sturgeon found dead in the waters off the southern coast of the island Wednesday. They believe the extremely rare fish perished after being caught in a fish net. Aptly called a "living fossil" because the species dates back almost 140 million years, the migratory fish has been listed on the mainland as a Class-1 national treasure since the 1970s.
