The statistics shows that there have been 260,000 acreage ponds for tilapia breeding in Hainan up to last year with the total output of 195,000 tons, valued for 1.37 billion Yuan. The figures are respectively 33.6% and 17.3% increase to 2005. Thus, Tilapia is becoming the leading species of fresh-water breeding fish in Hainan. For this year, the increasing trend in tilapia export is keep on going, which can be seen from the total export volume on it during January to February of 4,298.7 tons valued for 12.559 million US dollar, which is a great increase to the last year. |
