Report on Export &Import Trading of Aquatic Products in 2005

General Situation

Although there has being the steady development in the export &import of China aquatic products, the trend on developing has been slowed down within 2005. The export &import of the whole year was 6.23 MT, valued for 12.01 billion US dollars, of which 2.57 MT, valued for 7.89 billion dollars was for export, with the 6% increase and 13% increase respectively to last year. Concerned about the increasing rate, there was 9% reduction in export volume and 14% reduction in export value. As for the imports, it was 3.66 MT, valued for 4.12 billion US dollars which respectively increased 24% and 27% to last year. So the favorable balance of trade was 3.77 billion US dollars, same matching level to last year. Taking up the percentage of 28.6% in total agriculture exports, the exports of aquatic product continuously stand at the top.
